About Erikka

Adventure has always been a word that doesn't deter me. I welcome it, like an old friend from the past. Adventure and I have always had a connection. The world is a big place and I want to discover it all.
I was born in the Midwest, St. Louis, MO to be exact. I knew that I wanted to see more than just the city of St. Louis. After high school, I attended the historic Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, AL. While such a small city may seem limiting to an adventurous lady like myself, that city really opened my eyes to had big and wonderful this world can be. Meeting so many people from so many different places in the world, let me know adventure is the right friend to have. After A&M, I moved to Dallas, TX and that's where I developed a love affair with food. A large city that is a melting pot of cultures and tastes allowed for my first food adventure. Food from countries like Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador opened my eyes and palate to flavors I've never experienced. From that point on, I was hooked.
My family life led me to other cities: Orlando, FL and finally landing in Jacksonville, FL. When I got to Jacksonville, I found the foodie scene was a hard nut to crack. You have to be 'in the know' to find good food. I....didn't KNOW anyone or anything. But I was undeterred. I hacked and hacked at it, and I finally cracked the nut....somewhat.
So this blog serves as a cheat sheet for anyone looking for good food in Jacksonville....and a way to follow as I keep hacking away.
