Hubby and I were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary and decided to grace Matthew's with our presence(we were pretty darn fly that night).

We were promptly seated. The atmosphere is upscale, yet cozy. The dining area isn't huge and I like that. We had two servers attending to us all night and that definitely made us feel special. The server went over specials and recommendations and asked if we were celebrating anything special(I think they already knew). When we said we were celebrating our anniversary, they brought us complimentary champagne.

We ordered the beef tartare with bone marrow to start. The presentation was beautiful as it was delicious. Bone marrow has an intense 'beefy' flavor to it, with was mellowed out by the softness of the tartare. The only thing that this appetizer needed was more bread(shhh, don't tell my trainer).

For our entrees, I got the braised veal cheeks the veal cheeks were SUPER tender. I know animal cheeks are all the rage in the culinary world, but veal cheeks have been my favorite to date. Matthew's really got this dish right.

Hubby ordered squid ink pasta with mussels and shrimp. He also got garlic shrimp on the side. Due to my finicky shellfish allergy, I only tried one of his garlic shrimp, but man oh man! outstanding!!!

To top off our dinner we were given complimentary dessert too. How cute!!

They really went above and beyond. I can't wait to go back. Matthew's is a special place for special occasions. Can't thank them enough for making our evening special.
